#6 - How to secure a roof to FM Global standards

This course explains the wind uplift ratings of Factory Mutual I-60, I-90, and I-120 and you will be surprised to learn their meanings. It also contains two support videos showing how to properly secure roof insulation using cold adhesives.

Securing a new roof with mechanical fasteners or adhesives is one of the most important parts of a new roof installation. Most commercial building insurance companies use FM Global’s tested roof systems and application recommendations as part of their insurance policy with the building owner. If there is a wind uplift of the roof during a storm, the insurance company will have Engineers check how the roof was adhered and if it was not to FM Global’s recommendations, the insurance company may refuse the claim. This course shows the latest FM recommended fastening and adhesive patterns for you to follow with a new roof installation or retrofit, and how to find the latest roof fastening requirements for your area.

This course is ideal for Maintenance Workers, Roofing Consultants, Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Roofing Contractors, Quality Assurance Inspectors, and anyone else responsible for securing roof systems against wind uplift.

Length of course: 1 – 2 hours.
